Brian McCallum

Brian is a Design Engineer for our Fabrication division. He takes our conceptual ideas or architectural specifications for furniture or casework, and collaborates with the Hufft team to turn ideas into functional products. Brian graduated from New England School of Architectural Woodworking in East Hampton, Massachusetts. Here he apprenticed under several furniture makers ranging in style from modern/contemporary to traditional early American furniture. His experience and passion provoked him to be assistant editor for a woodworking magazine based in Iowa – thus transplanting this New Englander to the Midwest. He worked as a cabinet shop project engineer and owned his own custom furniture shop before settling in Kansas City. Brian lives for the moment of reveal – seeing the finished product after all of the hours and effort that goes in to design, engineering, and fabrication of a piece. He enjoys both teaching and the continuous learning his craft allows. He finds it an important duty to pass along knowledge gained in his 20+ years of experience—in tandem to learning new methods from those around him in the shop. His marathon running wife, two young kids, and two geriatric bird dogs (a Weim and a Vizsla), make for never a dull moment. He is an avid cook when time permits, and still builds custom furniture in his shop.
