Horizon House is organized around a single architectural move: a continuous porch that extends the length of the rear façade, framing a horizontal view of the tree line and defining the threshold between inside and out. Located on an irregular infill lot just off a main road in downtown Bentonville, the design reorients the typical front-back relationship—creating privacy from neighbors while opening fully to the landscape beyond.

Traditional residential forms are used as a starting point, then adapted to the site’s geometry and context. A modest front porch marks the entry, while the rear porch becomes a unifying element—linking every major room to the outdoors. The plan emphasizes progression and clarity, with material choices that reinforce the idea of home: whitewashed cedar shake, cedar decking, and white oak interiors. Designed for a growing family, the house balances everyday function with a strong conceptual backbone rooted in place.
