The Dovetail House _ 2025

The Dovetail House is a celebration of craft, connection, and the quiet beauty of a life well built. Designed for a recently retired couple who spent decades in the furniture industry, the home is a modern reflection of their passion for material, proportion, and purpose.
Every space in the Dovetail House tells a story of furniture as art, of craft as legacy, and of home as the most personal expression of design. The architecture pairs warm, tactile materials with precise detailing, echoing the joinery that gives the house its name. Walnut, oak, and steel come together in a way that feels both contemporary and timeless, much like the couple’s own collection of iconic pieces that fill the rooms.
Inside, the furniture isn’t just placed, it’s curated. Vintage and contemporary designs live comfortably together, creating an atmosphere that feels collected, not staged. Light pours through expansive openings, moving across textures and finishes that evolve throughout the day.
A gallery wall anchors the heart of the home, layered with mementos from years in the furniture world: sketches, photographs, and stories that mark the evolution of their craft. Beyond the walls, the garden becomes an extension of that narrative, an outdoor living room framed by nature and furnished with the same intentional eye.
The Dovetail House isn’t a monument to a career; it’s the continuation of one. It’s a space designed for reflection and renewal, crafted with the same care and precision that defined the couple’s life’s work.
