On February 25, 2010 the Green Circle shopping center located at 1110 E. Republic Road Springfield, MO, earned LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council. This rating is the highest level of sustainability achievable through the USGBC and Green Circle is the first shopping center in the United States to earn the LEED Platinum rating.

The 23,000-square-foot shopping center was built on a site that minimized tree loss, was built with recycled materials, has renewable energy using photovoltaics, efficient mechanical systems that utilize the heat of the earth, a cistern to collect rainwater, a green roof that includes a rooftop garden, and more.
