Tuft & Needle _ Ongoing
Better Stores, Better Sleep
Tuft & Needle first started their disruption of the mattress industry in 2012, and the company has become known for a retail experience that breaks the traditional mattress store model. Designed to embrace a home environment and feel more residential than commercial, stores are treated more like showrooms. The stores feature semi-private “rooms” for customers to comfortably peruse and test inventory. There is no harsh fluorescent lighting, or a sea of mattresses overwhelming customers with options. The shopping experience is relaxed and free of pressure from sales staff. No inventory is kept at Tuft & Needle stores, either, and customers can use an iPad in store or visit the e-commerce site if they decide to purchase. Our work with the brand is a collaborative effort between our design and fabrication studios. The stores feature multiple functional design and casework elements fabricated by our shop in Kansas City.
