Film by Thaden School tells story of new Fieldhouse

The debut film from Thaden School in Bentonville tells the story of another entity named in honor of Northwest Arkansas native and record-breaking aviatrix Louise Thaden. Thaden Fieldhouse is a multi-use building situated adjacent to the runway at the Bentonville Municipal Airport. Home to an exhibition hangar, aviation school, café, retail space, recreational flying club and fixed-base operator, the Fieldhouse provides an immersive experience for recreational pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike.

Students from the school’s tenth grade Reels class chose to feature the Fieldhouse because of its inspiring impact for the Bentonville community. Our Northwest Arkansas Principal Brad Kingsley worked with the students to share the story of the building’s unique design. “The original concept was to create a building that kind of evoked that golden era of flight – the barnstormer era of flight,” Brad said.

The Fieldhouse also sits directly next to Lake Bentonville and provides 360-degree views of both the airport and lake. “The building really has two sides,” Brad said. “It has the town and the lake side, and the airfield side. The way we negotiated that is through the central space called ‘The Gateway’. Even in its shape and plan, it’s kind of a trapezoidal shape, and it opens you up to the airfield as you enter from the lakeside.”

We’re honored by the opportunity to work with such a talented group of students. The final film, shown below, can also be viewed at Thaden School’s Vimeo and Facebook profiles.
